LTTE - SANLAKAS Negros and KPML Challenge on P-Noy SONA

SANLAKAS Negros and KPML Challenge on P-Noy SONA
(from letter-to-the-editor section of Negros Daily Bulletin, July 28, 2010, p.4; can be accessed at http://www.ndb-online.com/jul2810/FEEDBACKS)

We have to dream dreams, but when a dream will remain to be a dream then it will be a nightmare. As political organizations that consistently fought for the rights of the masses, we challenge the Aquino administration to transform dreams into reality.

While we (the Sanlakas Negros and the Kongreso ng Pagkakaisa ng mga Maralita ng Lungsod-KPML) give the Aquino administration a space and time to prove himself in realizing his promised reforms towards the right direction, we continue to be vigilant in keeping an eye on his administration in order that the Filipino people will be kept from hypnotic promises and profound dream which could be "a pie in the sky." We continue to push for a reversal of all the anti-poor, anti-labor but pro-capitalist, pro-imperialist economic policies which were approved and implemented by the previous administrations. We challenge the Aquino administration to establish a strong, sovereign and developing state that mobilizes government’s regulatory and procurement powers to discipline the market and direct resources towards development and welfare.

Moreover, we continue to advocate a concrete program for the poor and marginalized sector of society, specifically, the plight of the farmers and the serious implementation of the extension of agrarian reform program, and the housing program with sustainable development plans for the urban poor.
