AS SHAME CAMPAIGN CONTINUES
The shame campaign against pro-Con Ass congressman continues. The urban poor belonging to Kongreso ng Pagkakaisa ng mga Maralita ng Lunsod (KPML), Zone One Tondo Organization (ZOTO), and Piglas-Kabataan (PK) will visit the houses of five Manila representatives whom they called as Con Ass Manila Five. They throw rotten tomatoes to the doors of these congressmen as a symbol of the death of democracy and sovereignty. They said they are bringing their fight at the parliament of the street also to protest the continued reign of the trapos in the political life of the nation. The political trapos serves only their own selfish interest, and the interests of their capitalists friends.
They began at the residence of Rep. Amado Bagatsing (Manila-D5, KAMPI) at Jorge Bocobo St. cor. J. Nakpil St. It will be followed with rally at the house of Bienvenido Abante (Manila-D6, LAKAS-CMD) at Revilla St., in Sta. Ana, then Trisha Bonoan-David (Manila-D4, KAMPI) in Dapitan St., then Zenaida Angping (Manila-D3, NPC) in Binondo, and Jaime C. Lopez (Manila-D2, LAKAS-CMD). In the six districts of Manila, only one did not sign HR 1109, and he was Benjamin Asilo (Manila-D1, PDP-LABAN).
A day after KPML and ZOTO rallied at the district offices of Rep. Mitch “Miss Con Ass” Cajayon (Caloocan City - D2, LP) and Rep. Alvin “Mr. Con Ass” Sandoval (Malabon-Navotas, Lone Dist., LP), presidential son Rep. Diosdado "Dato" Arroyo (Camarines Sur - D1, KAMPI), authored and filed House Bill 6358, which stated that pickets are banned at the houses of public officials, even if these public officials are involved in scams or controversial issues affecting the public good. The said bill seeks to amend Article 131 of the Revised Penal Code, which states in paragraph one and three: “Art. 131. Prohibition, interruption and dissolution of peaceful meetings. — The penalty of prision correccional in its minimum period shall be imposed upon any public officer or employee who, without legal ground, shall prohibit or interrupt the holding of a peaceful meeting, or shall dissolve the same. The same penalty shall be imposed upon any public officer or employee who shall prohibit or hinder any person from addressing, either alone or together with others, any petition to the authorities for the correction of abuses or redress of grievances.”
Allan Dela Cruz, KPML Secretary General said, “We will continue protesting at the houses and district offices of several pro-Con Ass congressmen as part of our shame campaign for signing the notorious HR 1109. We also reject their desire, through accompanying HR 737 of Rep. Nograles for foreigners to own 100% of our land, media, schools, hospitals and other basic services. We also reject HB 6358 of Dato Arroyo, because our right for redress of grievances, as written in the Bill of Rights, should be respected by the state. We know our right as stated in Article III, Section 4 of the 1987 Constitution, which states: “No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.”
